The GARF is dedicated to honoring the life work and cultural influence of George A. Romero, and supporting a new generation of filmmakers and artists inspired by his legacy.
Projects & Initiatives
The Night of the Living Dead 50th anniversary celebration is one of the keystone events of the Romero Lives! festivities in 2018. The GARF and Image Ten, Inc. partnered to host this special event in the very theater where it was first shown in 1968! Learn More
The GARF is committed to helping the next generation of independent filmmakers. In 2016, George A. Romero worked with the Douglas Education Center in Monessen, Pennsylvania, to relaunch its filmmaking program. The GARF will continue to honor George's vision by raising funds for students who wish to participate in the program.
One of the GARF's first projects will be to restore an early George A. Romero film entitled The Amusement Park. This is the first in what the GARF hopes will be a culture of preservation and restoration of the works of independent filmmakers in the Pittsburgh area and beyond. Learn More
