The Romero Lives Film Series presents: A Celebration of Pittsburgh’s Horror Master, George A. Romero
The last non-zombie film Romero was able to make, Bruiser is an intense, absurdist take on the painfully dehumanizing effects of contemporary society, but also yet another ferociously critical exploration of the violent, toxic masculinity that it produces. In Bruiser, a conformist businessman who’s spent his life being exploited, mistreated, and overlooked wakes up to find that his face has been replaced by an utterly blank white mask. That Michael Myers-like anonymity brings out the deep reserves of rage he’s buried all his life, and he goes on a rampage, exacting brutal revenge on those who have hurt and betrayed him. Featuring an original soundtrack – and an appearance! – by the gods of horror punk, The Misfits.
