Dawn of the Dead 3D Screening

  • Carnegie Science Center (map)

A special screening of the 3D version of Dawn of the Dead, adapted under the supervision of producer Richard P. Rubinstein.

Pittsburgh’s largest screen showing Pittsburgh’s legacy horror flick? How terrifyingly, perfectly Pittsburgh.

Ten years after Night of the Living Dead, Romero resurrected the franchise with an even grislier, more savagely satiric sequel, a brilliantly bleak and disturbing critique of American consumerism. Fleeing the zombie apocalypse, four survivors seek refuge in a suburban shopping mall where Tom Savini’s gore splatters to mindless muzak and the marauding undead prove nearly as terrifying as the horrors of late capitalism.

Dawn of the Dead 3D will crawl back to Pittsburgh this Halloween for two screenings. A George Romero classic filmed on location at the Monroeville Mall, Dawn of the Dead was adapted for 3D by producer Richard P. Rubenstein, further immersing moviegoers in the horrifying horde of zombies swarming the U.S.

This version of the film rarely sees the light of day, let alone the City’s largest screen. Don’t have your tickets yet? Then shame, shame on you. Buy ‘em now!
